The iced double berry matcha is a new Starbucks drink, and it’s already living rent-free in my head.
This recipe takes a classic iced matcha green tea latte and turns it into a fruity, layered flavor combo with sweet strawberry on the bottom, earthy matcha in the middle, and creamy raspberry cold foam on top.
I love how the flavors balance each other, and the layers make it feel just as special as the Starbucks version.
It’s vibrant, refreshing, and surprisingly easy to make at home using either store-bought shortcuts or simple homemade fruit components.
I tried this drink once and honestly couldn’t stop sipping, especially with that cold foam on top. So I had to come up with a homemade copycat!

Ingredients Needed for an Iced Double Berry Matcha
- Strawberry Puree (or strawberries, sugar and lemon if making homemade)
- Raspberry syrup (or raspberries, sugar and water if making homemade)
- Matcha powder
- Hot water
- Milk
- Heavy cream
- Ice
Ingredient Notes
Strawberry puree
You can use store-bought, but homemade is incredibly easy and tastes bright and fruity. I like using thawed frozen strawberries because they’re picked at peak ripeness and blend beautifully.
Raspberry syrup
Store-bought works, but homemade gives the cold foam real raspberry flavor without artificial notes. Frozen or peak-season berries are ideal.
Matcha powder
Look for a bright green, ceremonial-grade matcha for the smoothest flavor. I always use unsweetened matcha since the fruit puree and syrup add plenty of sweetness.
Water
Heat it to about 160 degrees. Boiling water will burn matcha and make it bitter. This electric tea kettle with temperature settings is a must-have if you make a lot of matcha drinks. Otherwise, boil the water and let it sit for 2-3 minutes to cool down.
Milk
I usually use 2% dairy milk, but oat milk works well for the latte portion.
Heavy cream
This is essential for the cold foam. There isn’t a true substitute that will thicken the same way.

How to Make Starbucks Iced Double Berry Matcha
Detailed recipe and instructions are in recipe card at bottom of post.
- Make the strawberry puree and raspberry syrup if using homemade, then chill them completely.
- Prepare the raspberry cold foam and set it aside in the fridge or freezer while you make the matcha.
- Whisk the matcha powder with hot water until smooth and lightly frothy, then stir in the milk. (If you have a go-to matcha, water and milk ratio, make it that way.)
- Add strawberry puree to the bottom of a 16 ounce glass.
- Fill the glass with ice, leaving space at the top.
- Slowly pour in the matcha latte to keep the layers distinct.
- Spoon or pour the raspberry cold foam over the top and serve immediately. If you have fresh strawberries and raspberries they make a pretty garnish.
How to Make Strawberry Puree
🍓 Homemade strawberry puree recipe
Thaw frozen strawberries in the microwave or overnight in the fridge. Add them to a blender with sugar and let them sit for about five minutes to macerate and release their juices. Add lemon juice and zest, then blend until smooth. Chill before using. (See recipe card below for ingredient measurements.)
Got extra strawberry puree? You can use it to make a frozen strawberry lemonade, or a white chocolate strawberry cream cold brew, or this chocolate-covered strawberry frappuccino.
How to Make Raspberry Syrup
🥤 Homemade raspberry syrup for drinks recipe
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add raspberries and simmer until the syrup turns deep red and the berries look pale. Strain out the solids and let the syrup cool completely. (See recipe card below for ingredient measurements.)
The syrup needs to be very cold before making cold foam, so this is best done ahead.
How to Make Raspberry Cold Foam
Use a very cold bowl or glass along with cold ingredients. Add heavy cream and raspberry syrup, then froth until thickened to a melted ice cream consistency.
If needed, chill briefly in the freezer while assembling the rest of the drink and froth again for extra thickness.
How to Make the Matcha Latte
Add matcha powder to a bowl or tall glass and pour in hot water. Whisk in a W pattern or use a handheld frother until smooth and lightly bubbly. Stir in the milk and set aside.
Matcha Latte Tip: If you already have a favorite way of making an iced matcha latte, feel free to use your preferred matcha, water, and milk ratio here. Just prepare the latte as you normally would, then layer it into the drink.
Expert Tips for Making the Best Iced Double Berry Matcha

- This drink is best enjoyed fresh, but you can prep the fruit components several days ahead.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less fruit puree.
- A dairy-free latte is not entirely possible served with cold foam, but you can use oat milk in the latte if you want.
